2024-2025 Guest Speaker Series
Evening Tide Talks is a complimentary lecture series featuring expert scientists and world explorers at The Florida Aquarium. The 2024-2025 season runs select Wednesday evenings from October through April. A complimentary reception will begin at 5:45 PM, followed by the speaker at 6:15 PM.

Bats have been both admired and vilified by humans for thousands of years. Even today, many people still adhere to commonly believed myths and misconceptions about these beneficial mammals. In this Evening Tide Talk, Shari Blissett-Clark will expose the myths and uncover amazing bat facts! Explore bat super-powers, learn why they are critical to healthy habitats and healthy humans, and discover the simple, effective strategies you can use to help bats thrive.
Shari Blissett-Clark has been involved in wild lands conservation for over 40 years. She holds a BS in biology from the University of California and has continued to be a lifelong learner, with many certifications and endorsements earned along her winding professional path. She currently serves as the president of the Florida Bat Conservancy and is an active member of several conservation organizations, including Bat Conservation International, Southeastern Bat Diversity Network, Wildlife Disease Association, and Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation. Shari lives in north central Florida where she cares for her nonagenarian parents, a dozen disabled bats, 15 rescue cats, and her beloved Moluccan Cockatoo.
