Position Summary
The Florida Aquarium Guest Engagement internship offers a well-rounded, educational experience working with our team of professionals. In this role, interns will conduct informal interpretive programs in all areas of the building, as well as at outdoor spaces, including touch habitats, galleries, biofact interactions, table activities, and Trail Talks. Interns ensure that guest encounters are engaging, factual, safe and effective, as determined by evaluation and in direct support of the mission of The Florida Aquarium.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the instruction and implementation of touch habitat protocols, gallery interpretation, tabling activities and biofact interpretation.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service to all Aquarium guests and internal customers.
- Increase knowledge of interpretation techniques and presentation skills.
- Must be highly motivated, reliable, and prompt.
- Willingness to work around animals including birds, reptiles, invertebrates and fish.
Desired Qualifications
- Working towards a Bachelor’s degree (Associate’s degree working towards Bachelor’s accepted) or recently graduated
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Time Commitment
- Two or three days per week including at least one weekend day, 8:45am-5:15pm
- Flexibility in working evenings, weekends, and holidays
