We are seeking individuals who are passionate about marine life, the natural environment and eager to assist the Aquarium with its shared purpose of saving marine wildlife. Frequently Asked Questions

No, simply an interest in marine biology, education and conservation or a desire to learn more about protecting the natural environment. Each position requires a different set of skills and experience.

For our concentrated programs, except dive volunteers, there is a minimum of six consecutive months with a minimum of eight hours per month. Shifts are typically four hours per week. Our Dive Volunteer program  requires a 12-month commitment, and the hourly requirement follows a quarterly calendar. For our event programs, there is no minimum commitment requirement.

No, but we invite you to fill out our volunteer interest form. Applications to our concentrated programs will be offered to those who have submitted the interest form.

We welcome volunteers of all ages; however, some positions have specific age requirements.

  • Animal Care, Education, and Dive positions: Open to individuals aged 18 and older.
  • Guest Engagement positions: Open to individuals aged 16 and older.
  • Junior Camp Counselors: Open to teens aged 14–17 (available during summer and throughout the year).
  • Event programming opportunities: Open to all ages (minors must be accompanied by an adult).

Yes! Teens looking to gain hours for their Bright Futures Scholarships or school/community requirements are welcome to accrue hours at event programs throughout the year or apply for our concentrated programs.

Access to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers is part of our community commitment and we welcome you to complete our Career and Project Request form found HERE. All requests for staff interviews, job shadowing, etc. will be considered. The project request form must be completed in its entirety and submitted a minimum of four weeks in advance.
