Tampa, FL (November 28, 2024) – This Thanksgiving, as many families gather to feast on their favorite fixings, some of the animals at The Florida Aquarium are joining the celebration with their own specially prepared holiday meals. The Aquarium’s animal care team created pumpkin and turkey-shaped treats, tailored to each animal’s diet. Biologists say these creative feasts provide nourishment and enrichment for the animals, encouraging natural foraging behaviors.

  • The striped burrfish, French angelfish and Florida horse conch in the Wetlands of Florida dined on a turkey-shaped pumpkin decorated with a seafood medley of clams, krill, and scallops, complete with a seaweed tail.
  • The yellow-bellied slider, Suwannee River cooter and peninsula cooter turtles received pumpkin ice treats with apples and turtle pellets.
